JOB DESCRIPTION
Provides compensation expertise throughout the Mars Chocolate North America (MCNA) business. Reviews and approves pay recommendations prior to submission to People Governance. Partners with the central compensation team to collect, organize, and conducts analysis of internal and external benchmarking information to ensure that MCNA provides a competitive total remuneration package.Responsible for designing and sustaining business critical meeting and process cadence for the division to ensure delivery of MCNA P&O strategic deliverables through an approach that maximizes efficiency and effectiveness. Drives alignment and clarity across the function in cross department trade-off discussions and decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides strategic compensation and benefits consulting to the P&O function within a region and to the business.
- Leverages external insights to create and propose compelling total rewards designs for MCNA.
- Partners with the P&O Strategic Business Partners to define and manage the MCNA approach to unit pay and rewards (i.e., build vs. buy).
- Facilitate the sharing of best practice compensation, benefits & cadence planning tools, practices and processes within MCNA.
- Provides expert guidance, strategic leadership and internal consulting to the P&O business partners and business leadership within the segment.
- Partner with regional rewards and benefits leaders to influence the design and strategic approach to rewards, benefits, and wellness programs and communication.
- Ensure significant pay issues critical to business success are identified and escalated with appropriate recommendations for resolution.
- Partners with regional P&O center of excellence leaders to ensure tools and programs delivered support MCNA business needs.
- Accountable for the analysis of competitive market data and delivery of recommendations.
- Consults and advises client groups in the design of compensation plans (e.g., MCNA, IC/SS, DCD).
- Responsible for managing the administration of the bonus and merit payment programs.
- Ensures pay/bonus program inputs/calculations are accurate (coordinating with Central Compensation, CHRIS team and Payroll).
- Represent MCNA in job evaluation process.
- Partners with central compensation to create recommendations for pay scale changes.
- Partners with central compensation to develop training, and monitor data integrity as related to merit and AVP payout processes.
- Develops and administers the MCNA compensation plan and related communications/training including base pay/merit, annual variable pay, executive compensation, associate benefits, and health & wellness imperatives.
- Prepares and distributes compensation and benefits information according to federal and state regulations.
- Assists in benefit/wellness presentations and training.
- Analyzes MCNA compensation and benefits policies, identifies and leverages internal and external best practices and trends.
- Participates in exempt and nonexempt salary surveys to ensure compensation levels are competitive and pay philosophy is followed.
- Collaborates with central compensation team to ensure continuous improvement and contemporary knowledge to support the MCNA Total Rewards strategy.
- Manages administration of automated performance appraisal process.
- Conducts associate communications to ensure understanding of pay and benefits plans and philosophies.
- Monitors effectiveness of existing compensation guidelines, and procedures recommending plan revision as well as new plans which are cost effective and consistent with compensation and benefits trends and corporate objectives
- Serves as MCNA Compensation and Benefits subject matter expert providing guidance to P&O staff and associates.
- Keeps apprised of country, state, and local compensation and benefits laws and regulations in order to ensure Company compliance.
- Designs business critical meeting and process cadence, ensuring the P&O execution calendar is clearly communicated and aligned to our strategic initiatives.
- Creates the Ways of Working that describe the purpose of each meeting, roles and responsibilities of invitees, role of the facilitator, etc.
- Drives alignment and clarity across the function in trade-off discussion protocols and decision making to ensure strategic commitments are delivered efficiently and effectively.
- Supports the resource allocation process in MCNA P&O by understanding and communicating adjustments to business execution plans, the timing of recurring processes, and unanticipated business demands.
- Partners with the P&O leadership team to ensure our rewards and benefits practices are structured in a way that will enable meeting or exceeding business targets.
- Champions rewards initiatives to strengthen functional and regional talent pipeline.
- Evaluates People practices and trends to ensure best-in-class rewards and associate well being solutions are implemented.
Key Skills Required:
- Expert level of business acumen to provide the strategic insights necessary to drive business performance through implementation of effective rewards and benefits strategies.
- Broad knowledge of P&O functions, systems and activities, (including talent management, organizational design, change management and communication, leadership coaching, talent acquisition, associate relations, compensation and benefit administration, performance management, associate engagement, diversity and inclusion and learning and development) to drive P&O effectiveness .
- Strong leadership, strategic agility and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal, conflict management, communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to balance and align P&O practices with business partner needs.
- Partners with central peer groups in the design and execution of rewards and benefits programs.
- Reviews and approves pay recommendations prior to submission to People governance.
- Provides guidance and coaching to P&O leadership team and all associates on our of rewards and benefits process and programs
- Engages and influences P&O and business leadership team members.
- Cultivates a reputation of credibility and integrity within the organization as an authentic, trusted and respected leader.

Minimum Qualifications:
- 4 years of Human Resources, Compensation, Benefits, and/or project management experience in positions of increasing responsibility.
- The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program in a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrated success as a strategic partner
- Demonstrated ability to partner collaboratively with and leverage centers of excellence
- Successful completion of background check and drug screen
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Human Resources, Compensation, Benefits, and/or project management experience in positions of increasing responsibility.
- Advanced Degree
